I would like you take a look on it and share your thoughts and experience.
The issue goal is to expose the difficulties to set up in the most similar way LTI external tools on Moodle 4.5 to that that was available on 4.1.
Its context, as detailed on the tracker, is that we currently have the weekly Moodle 4.1 version on production, and we are planning to migrate to Moodle 4.5 on July. We need to test that current features we offer to teacher are kept.
The easy way of configuring LTI external tools at course level on Moodle 4.5 is really hard and generating LTI external tool records at site level, duplicating them when importing LTI tools between Moodle courses.
It is somehow an EPIC tracker or summary of detected things that should be improved or fixed.
I decided to create a single issue on the tracker since I do not know the exact future of LTI integration on Moodle, as a platform, so that maybe there are proposals that make no sense. Maybe. But at least, they express an experience and viewpoint that we believe should be considered when designing and implementing further things about LTI.
From a certain perspective, we are seeing this new LTI External tool configuration at the course level as an impediment and breaking the operation from previous Moodle versions. I do not know exactly when this new option was added. We talk about Moodle 4.5 since we are facing it on our next Moodle migration.
In summary, the main goal we are looking for is to enable LTI tools at course level, in a simple and sustainable way.
