What I'm leaning towards now for my environment's Moodle as LTI provider/tool is to add some status indicators to the enrolment methods menu for each published LTI tool instance under the Remote System sub-menu. Something like this:

Where "Last error received" is whatever error explanation the platform sent or else an "All clear" from the plugin language strings, "status" checks if the task will be sending data on the next scheduled run and if so when the task is scheduled to run (redundant for site admins), and force synchronization would do whatever is needed to attempt to send all data to the platform's respective AGS or NPRS again (although in the error case here, I don't think it should spoof new grade submission dates and override what I would think are manual grade adjustments on the platform).

I would think anyone with the capability to publish an LTI tool should be able to force the sync operations.
